UltraPad Press Pads

The Arlon UltraPad™ press pads are a family of high performance, fiberglass reinforced, silicone sheets designed for flex and rigid-flex circuitry lamination. UltraPad press pads provide excellent pressure uniformity with unparalleled consistency and longevity throughout their service life. UltraPad press pads are the most cost effective press pad solution across a wide range of process pressures and temperatures.

UltraPad™ D75 = Arlon part number 55173R062 (General Purpose)

UltraPad™ D70 = Arlon part number 55133R062 (Improved Pressure Uniformity and Long Service Life)

UltraPad™ D65 = Arlon part number 55073R062 (Best Pressure Uniformity for Critical Applications)

UltraPad™ D65 = Arlon part number 51073R031 (Fast Press)

Arlon UltraPad™ is also sold with a smooth surface (Ex. 55173R062D) or with a smooth surface and talced (Ex. 55173R062DST)

Silicone press pads are specially formulated, reversion resistant silicone rubber composites designed for hydraulic and autoclave lamination. They act to distribute pressure in the lamination of circuit boards, high pressure laminates, laminated plastic, and electron circuitry. Silicone press pads are available in standard constructions or high performance construction.

Use of silicone press pad materials eliminates the need for throw-away pressure
distribution vehicles such as kraft paper, blotter paper, chipboard, and other nonwoven paper- like pads.

     Silicone Rubber Benefits:

    Long service life

    Uniform heat rise – use
      after use

    Reduced inventory

    Less handling
    No shedding

    Dimensionally stable

    Uniform cushioning –
      no hard spots

    Reduced storage

    Faster layup

Press pads provide uniform cushioning and precise control over heat rise. When used as shown, press pads will reduce “white-edges” and other problems caused by uneven surfaces and inconsistent B-stage flows.

External Form:

A typical press pad application for an 18” x 24” B-stage tooling package. The uniform heat provided by silicone press pads permits more wet time for the resins to flow, providing strong, reliable bonds without voids, thus enhancing circuit reliability.
